Our Mission
By creating an awareness of the many factors that could lead to the destruction of the Mountain Gorilla habitat start a global initiative to make sure it does not happen. We are providing a service that links suppliers of services and material and interested intermediaries and funding sources with the communities that are in need. Detailed information and necessary cross links will be provided and maintained to make the initial connections and provide support to keep the process moving. The five major initiatives are covered in detail in the FEATURES sections and can be summarized as follows:
CLEAN WATER- The lack of clean water and poor sanitation are the leading causes of death in the villages. In addition many hours of labor are expended by women and children every day in carrying in supplies of fresh water. This affects school attendance and causes early drop outs particularly among young girls.
DEFORESTATION AND CLEAN COOKING STOVES- The cutting and carrying of wood for cooking once again directly affects women and children. In addition the habitat of the Gorillas and other animals is continuously being reduced and the trees needed for carbon capture eliminated. The CO2 and Carbon particles emitted by the cook stoves is another major cause of deaths in children.
EDUCATION- Many of the governments have made education a major priority but very few children particularly girls advance beyond the 5th grade. This lack of education exacerbates the population explosion as very few people are aware of Birth Control methods and the negative impacts that doubling the population in the next 60 years will have on the natives and the animals.
ENERGY- Projects like clean water and improving the education system will require cheap reliable sources of energy. Solar power can be implemented but it requires funding and an effective implementation plan.
REFORESTATION- The areas all around the Gorilla Habitat are being stripped of forests. This needs to be reversed and new trees planted. This is just one small section of a project that needs to be implemented globally.
